Heathrow arrivals escorted to £1,750 hotel isolation
THE first guests have checked into £1,750 hotel
isolation as the "red list" quarantine begins
today.

Passengers returning to England from 33 "red list"
countries, hotspots with Covid-19 variants in
circulation, must quarantine in hotels for 11
nights.

People arriving at Heathrow face five-hour airport
queues and will be free to mix with others from
"red list" countries.

Passengers touching down at Heathrow were escorted
by security personnel to coaches which took them
to nearby hotels.

Eight passengers were taken by G4S guards through
Terminal 5 onto a shuttle bus to take them to the
quarantine hotels just after 8am.

The small crowd had been grouped together at
customs from different flights from red-list
destinations such as South Africa and Argentina on
connecting flights from Doha, Qatar, and Madrid,
Spain.

A handful of people pulled up to the four star
Radisson Blu Edwardian hotel shortly before 9am.

One woman, who had flown in from Zambia, said:
"I'm not happy, but you have to do it."

The upmarket Radisson Blu Edwardian has a Steak
and Lobster restaurant and boasts 464 rooms and
suites - with a night costing up to £172.

HOTEL ISOLATION
Security staff in high-vis escorted the passengers
inside with their luggage.

Around half a dozen coaches had arrived by mid
morning, with one only dropping off one solo
guest.

Rooms are fully equipped with WiFi and the hotel
boasts a Steak and Lobster restaurant, a lounge
bar, a spa and a gym.

Guests also have Samsung smart TVs and Nespresso
machines to keep them entertained.
