GFA wishes Hearts, Kotoko well in CAF Club Competitions
The Ghana Football Association would like to wish
Premier League clubs Asante Kotoko and Hearts of
Oak all the best in the CAF Club Competitions,
which begins this weekend.

League Champions Asante Kotoko will contest in the
CAF Champions League while third-place finishers
in the League, Accra Hearts of Oak, will take part
in the CAF Confederations Cup.

Kotoko have however been given a bye as they
automatically advance to the next stage of the CAF
Champions League after the withdrawal of their
Sierra Leonean opponents East End Lions.

The Ghanaian Champions who are two-time winners of
the competition, will therefore face either MC
Eulma or St. Georges in the next round.

In the Confederation Cup, Hearts of Oak will face
side AS Police on Sunday February 15 at the Accra
Stadium in the preliminary stage of the
competition. The match kicks off at 15pm GMT.

The Phobians last played in the Confederations Cup
in 2004 when they won the trophy for the first
time.

The second leg will be played on the weekend of
27, 28 February and 1 March.

“The Ghana Football Association would like to
wish the two teams involved in the CAF Club
Competition all the best as they will be flying
the flag the of the country. As Ghanaians, it is
encouraging to see so our teams involved in the
competition as this will in turn help our national
teams to do well in major tournaments” .

“Our wish as an Association is for our two big
clubs to reclaim their glory on the continental
stage and excel in their respective competitions.
The experience gained in the competition can only
serve to make our Premier League stronger. Good
luck to our two clubs and we are confident they
will make us proud”, the Ghana Football
Association said in a press statement.

The draws for the 19th edition of the Orange CAF
Champions League 2015 and the 12th Orange CAF
Confederation Cup was conducted in Cairo in
December last year.

A total of 58 clubs entered the Champions League
draw with 56 in the Confederations Cup.
