Kwadwo Asamoah out of 2015 AFCON
Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah will spend close
to four months after his club Juventus announced
he has undergone successful knee operation meaning
he will miss the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The arthroscopic surgery designed to fix torn
cartilage in his left knee was done in Barcelona
today (Tuesday) and will not return to the pitch
for at least three months.

A club statement confirmed: “Kwadwo Asamoah was
in Barcelona [today] to undergo arthroscopic
surgery designed to fix torn cartilage in his left
knee.”

“Operated on by Dr. [Ramon] Cugat and
accompanied by club doctor [Andrea] Causarano, the
Ghanaian is expected to return to competitive
action within three to four months.”

Asamoah was on the verge of making his fifth
consecutive appearance at the Africa Cup of
Nations but must wait for the 2017 tournament.

Next year’s tournament to be hosted by
Equatorial Guinea six weeks away and Ghana must
contest the title without one of their mercurial
talents.

This will be a major blow for new coach Avram
Grant who will lead the team at the tournament.
