Black Stars' Germany job: God will be a Ghanaian today - Amaliba predicts
National Democratic Congress' (NDC's) Abraham
Amaliba has rallied support for the Ghana Black
stars as they clash with Germany in a
make-or-break game tonight.

"My heart is for the Black Stars but my head tells
me it is going to be a difficult
game...[nonetheless] God will be a Ghanaian
today," he predicted.

After a heart-breaking loss to U.S, the Black
Stars have made qualification for the next round
of the 2014 World Cup difficult. Ghana needs to
beat Germany placed 2nd on the FIFA ranking to
revive their hopes of progressing in Brazil.
Portugal is the last opponent.

Newsfile panelists, usually political analysts,
weighed in on the crucial game.

Former Communications Director of the New
Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akomea cited
authorities in football who have noted Ghana
played better than the U.S.A in our first game. He
chalked down Ghana's defeat to "player-errors not
tactical errors."

Assessing Ghana's toughest opponent yet, Germany,
Peoples' National Convention's General Secretary
Bernard Mornah said he is unimpressed with the
German side despite its 4-nil mauling of Cristiano
Ronaldo's Portugal.

"They didn't play any quality footballbut took
their chances," the politician pointed out.

He made reference to a post gone viral on social
media which works out Ghana chances based on the
team's performance in its first outing at a World
Cup in 2006.

He said in 2006 World Cup in Germany, Ghana lost
against the teams ranked 13th by FIFA, Italy. But
Ghana recovered to beat the 2nd placed team Czech
Republic and beat the 4th placed team, U.S and won
to qualify for the next round.

The same structure is playing out in 2014 where
Ghana has again lost to a 13th placed team, U.S
and is set to play the 2nd placed team Germany and
4th placed team Portugal.

Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide Kwaku
Baako paid respect to the great football played by
Germany. Concerning Ghana's chances, he said "it
is not a mission impossible".

Expressing his gut feelings, Baako said "as a
Ghanaian, what else do you expect me to say? In
spite of all the odds...I still have a funny
feeling we may cause an upset".

Amaliba said Ghana's chances depend on which
starting eleven shows up.

"If it is the Black Stars that will be hungry and
disciplined in defence and clinical in their
[attacking], I am sure they will cause an upset".
