Asante Kotoko will be returning to Champions League duty this year

Asante Kotoko can win historic treble this season - Abdul Razak
Asante Kotoko legend Abdul Razak believes the side
can go on to finish this season with an
unprecedented treble by winning the Premier
League, FA Cup and Champions League.

The Ghanaian giants are in pole position to
successfully defend their Premier League title for
the third consecutive time.

The Porcupine Warriors have also progressed to the
next round of the FA Cup competition while they
prepare themselves for their return to the CAF
Champions League.

Many however believe though the side look good
enough to retain their domestic title, is not that
strong to make the needed impact in the Champions
League.

Not even the signing of Rahim Ayew, Isaac Boakye,
Larbi Koomson and Isaac Boakye has been convincing
enough of their African Cup credentials.

But ex player and coach Abdul Razak believes the
current crop can defy the odds to finish the
season with the three titles provided they prepare
well.

“I believe Kotoko can win the treble,” he told
Metro FM.

“We only have to learn from our mistakes and
prepare the side well.

“Kotoko is currently on top of the league which
is good, we are going further in the FA Cup and
the Champions League is about to start.

“So with good preparations, I don’t see how we
cannot make this dream of winning a treble a
reality.”

Kotoko began last season with similar hopes but
ended up winning only the Premier League.

The champions crashed out of the Champions League
at the penultimate qualification stage to JSM
Bejaia before suffering losing the FA Cup final to
Medeama.

The team currently lead the Ghanaian top flight by
seven points at the end of the first half of the
season.
