Hearts Sack Coach Duncan
Accra Hearts of Oak have sacked Coach David Duncan
by word of mouth with immediate effect.

An insider said, shortly after the sack that the
coach received the bad news from Neil Armstrong
Mortagbe, Hearts of Oak MD, at the club's
secretariat after training yesterday.

The insider revealed that an alleged long-standing
feud between coach Duncan and Toge Afede XIV, the
club's board chairman, was what brought about the
sack.

It has also emerged that the firm coach has
consistently turned a deaf ear to instructions
from Togbe via text messages regarding player
selection before matches.

'He was asked to meet with Neil after training at
the Secretariat where he (Duncan) received the
news. They didn't even give him a letter.

'He asked the reason for his dismissal and was
told 'Togbe says you should lay down your tools'.
I have spoken with most of the guys and they are
all down.

'The timing is not good. Personally, I think
Duncan has done pretty well, looking at where he
picked the team from and where we are on the
table.

'He requested for players like Asiedu Attobrah,
Folley Addade and two other players but management
failed to purchase them for him. Yet he has
managed to work with those at his disposal, and he
hasn't done badly at all. I hear he is against the
use of players like Nuru Sulley, Stephen Tetteh
and some one other player,' the insider revealed.

Duncan, who took over from CK Akunnor, last
season, guided Hearts to an enviable fifth
position from the relegation zone in the said
season and currently, the club is lying second on
the table with 20 points, four points behind
leaders Asante Kotoko.

Duncan has been in charge of clubs like Ashgold
and Free State Stars of South Africa and managed a
draw and a defeat to arch-rivals Kotoko since
assuming the hot seat.

In his stead, coaches Ben Adjei and Jacob Nettey
will hold the fort. Hearts will travel to play
Amidaus Professionals tomorrow in Tema.
