Assembly Members should help enhance education delivery Nkoranza (B/A), April 23, GNA - Madam Philippa
Banson, Nkoranza South District Director of
Education, has urged Assembly Members to help
educate parents on their roles and
responsibilities as stakeholders in their
children's education.
She suggested the holding of educational campaigns
on the importance of education so that the people
could support their children accordingly.
Madam Banson was sharing ideas with the Assembly
Member for Asuoso Electoral Area, Mr. Akrapim
Baffoe, as part of the directorate's measures to
find out the causes of the downward trend of
education in some basic schools in the district.
She expressed concern about how a number of
parents shirked their responsibilities that made
their children to face problems at school,
emphasizing that such negative attitudes affected
the education of the children.
Madam Banson called on other stakeholders to join
in the campaign to enhance the provision of
quality education to move the district forward.
She appealed to religious leaders to use the
pulpit to encourage parents to show greater
interest and support the education of their
children.
The district director advised the youth to be
disciplined and obedient to their parents and
guardians so they could receive greater support
and encouragement in their education.
Mr. Baffoe said lack of means of transport and
financial support were major challenges facing
Assembly Members in the area and called on the
Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development
to provide motorbikes to Assembly members.
He appealed to Metropolitan, Municipal and
District Assemblies to arrange for monthly
allowances for Assembly Members to enhance the
work. Source - GNA
