Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom

Statement: Nduom wishes Ghanaians a Happy easter
Christians everywhere begin today Holy Thursday,
on a journey for renewal. Catholics confess their
sins in the belief that Our Father in Heaven will
cleanse them and wipe it all clean for another
chance to seek salvation.

Easter teaches us that nothing comes easy. Our
salvation came through the ultimate sacrifice not
just of any human being but the Son of Our Father
in Heaven. With His sacrifice, we gained
redemption. But then there was deception, betrayal
from within that led to the ultimate sacrifice
that also led to triumph over sin and death.

In Ghana, we have had our share this year of
terrible road accidents, armed robbery, fires that
have destroyed life and property, cholera and
other preventable diseases, wage and salary
disputes that have led to strikes, unemployed
graduates seeking attention to gain jobs,
employers leaning on government to create a better
environment for domestic businesses and
politicians using intolerant language and
exclusionary tactics to put their opponents at
unfair disadvantage. We need cleansing. We need
salvation.

In Africa, our people continue to die unnecessary
death and suffer from hunger – in Tunisia,
Egypt, Libya, Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe, Gambia,
Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Sudan and many, many other
countries.

Christians, Moslems and Others must join together
this season to confess, all of us, what we have
done against our neighbours and humanity in
general. We should all resolve to treat all as we
want to be treated by our actions, speech and
thought.

To CPP members, let us use this opportunity to let
the youth shine. We should give them opportunity
to lead our renewal so that we can rise as Jesus
will this Sunday. With sacrifice we will rise. Let
this year be our Easter!
