Togbe Afede XIV Mills’ meeting with Volta chiefs has nothing to do with politics - Minister Chiefs from the Volta Region will later today,
Thursday, meet with president Mills at the Castle.
The delegation to be led by president of the
region’s house of chiefs, Agbogbomefia, Togbui
Afede XIV, and the new Awomefia of Anlo, Togbui
Sri III will discuss developments in the region.
Joy News sources say the chiefs also intend to use
the opportunity to try and mend the growing rift
between President Mills and the Rawlingses ahead
of the NDC’s July congress to elect a
flagbearer.
But Volta Regional Minister Joseph Amenowode
denies the closed-door meeting has anything to do
with politics.
He said the chiefs simply want to thank the
president for the enormous development projects
the government had given the region.
Mr Amenowode said the chiefs were particularly
impressed with the new university being built in
the region and want to show their appreciation.
