Journalists vow to black-list Eastern Regional Minister
Private Media Practitioners in the Eastern Region
have vowed to black-list the regional minister
Kwesi Appea Kubi if he refuses to apologise by the
end of the day over some damaging attacks he
launched on journalists in the region.

According to the private media practitioners
association, Dr Appea-Kubi’s usage of words like
“rubbish” and “idiot” on journalists who
reported to an NDC meeting at his residence is
unfortunate and shameful.

The Eastern Regional Minister accused some
journalists of fabricating stories with the aim of
dividing the country.

He said all journalists in set out to do is to
create unnecessary chaos and cut people down with
no justification.

Dr Kwasi Appea Kubi was angered by some media
reports claiming that the Presidency was behind a
recent meeting held by Regional NDC executives to
declare support for President Mills ahead of the
party’s primaries.

However, the General Secretary of the private
media practitioners association in the Eastern
Region, Maxwell Konadu in an interview with Citi
News said the minister’s reaction was
unfortunate and unwarranted.

“Unfortunately when the new Minister took over,
the media were expecting that he would continue
the legacy by the former Minister. But it is quite
unfortunate that the Regional Minister would use
words like rubbish, idiot, stupid and what have
you on journalists, people who are propagating his
business.

“We are calling on him to as a matter of urgency
apologise and withdraw the statements. Other than
that, the private media in the Eastern Region
would take our decision, if he does not apologise
we are not going part in his activities, we are
going to black-list him and we would make sure
that we don’t say anything about what he
does”.
