Raphael Cubagee

I will drink poison to die for Rawlings – Raphael Cubagee

A staunch supporter of Flt. Lt. Jerry John
Rawlings has underscored his love for the former
president with a vow to defend the Rawlingses even
at the peril of his life.

Mr. Raphael Cubagee, the leader of the Real
Democratic People’s Party (RDPP), a breakaway
group from the ruling NDC, said he trusted,
believed and adored the ideologies and personality
of the former president to the extent that if Mr
Rawlings asked him to take a poisonous substance
like DDT, supposedly, to cure an illness, he would
willingly do that.

The man who described Mr Rawlings as “my mentor
in the whole world”, was sharing his thoughts on
Adom FM, Monday on the seeming wrangling in the
NDC – between the camp of President John Evans
Atta Mills and that of former First Lady, Nana
Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

The formation of Mr. Cubagee’s RDPP party was
said to have been necessitated by the perceived
marginalization of individuals close to Mr.
Rawlings, by members of President Mills’
government. The party which is based in the Brong
Ahafo Region has the camel as its symbol, and its
motto, “Together we build, together we
enjoy.”

Mr Cubagee condemned people he said were “small
boys” within the party whom he claimed were
casting aspersions at Mr Rawlings. The Rawlings
admirer enumerated numerous contributions he said
the Rawlingses had made in the NDC and could not
fathom why some latter-day appointees and
followers would denigrate the party founder just
because they oppose the former first family’s
candid opinions.

The NDC party, he indicated, has been polarized by
the two camps, adding that with the kind of
acrimony between the two, it would be very
difficult for the NDC to reconcile ahead of the
2012 general elections.

Cubagee said the party is currently sitting on a
time bomb, which he said would explode anytime
soon, disintegrating the front of the NDC and that
the fallouts would inure to the benefit of the
RDPP.

He said judging by how some people in the party
are treating the Rawlings family, he would be
excited to see Mrs Rawlings win the party’s
presidential election. He will not be bothered if
she loses the national election.
