Ablakwa flays Kofi Adams A Deputy Information minister, Samuel Okudzeto
Ablakwa, has lashed out at the deputy General
Secretary of the NDC, Kofi Adams, for what he
describes as acts against the party’s code of
ethics.
According to Mr. Ablakwa, recent pronouncements by
Kofi Adams clearly show that he is supporting
former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang
Rawlings’s intentions of contesting the
flagbearer slot of the NDC; a move he thinks
breaches the party’s laws.
Kofi Adams - special aide and spokesperson for the
Rawlingses - has been on several media platforms
defending and clarifying the former first lady’s
decision to resign her position as a vice chairman
of the NDC to "put a few things in order" to help
her prepare adequately to contest President Mills
for the party's flagbearer slot. The contest will
take place at the Party's congress slated for
Sunyani from July 8-10, 2011.
Speaking on Metro TV’s 'Good Morning Ghana'
program on April 15, the deputy information
minister chastised Kofi Adams for taking an
entrenched stance on the recent development in the
party, creating what he believes is a conflict of
interest situation.
He said Kofi Adams as a party executive should
know that what his actions and deeds are not in
the best interest of the NDC. “Imagine if (NDC
General Secretary)Asiedu Nketia or (NDC
Chairman)Kwabena Adjei was doing that, all hell
would have broken loose”.
Questioned about the difference between what he
does as an information minister for the government
and what Kofi Adams is doing for Mrs. Rawlings,
the deputy information minister was of the view
that “no, we have always gone round to preach
the better Ghana gospel, it is our duty as
information ministers to let the people know what
is going on. We promised an open, transparent,
accountable government and that’s what we do".
"When we go there, first of all we’re not
meeting party delegates; when you go and address
KNUST students or UDS Wa students or Nyamkpala
students or University of Ghana students, are
those party delegates?, We don’t call party
delegates meeting or constituencies to meet party
executives - that’s the difference".
