Greater Accra, Central NDC declare support for Mills
The Greater Accra and Central regional executives
of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC)
have declared their unanimous support for
President John Evans Atta Mills in his bid for a
second term.

The decision was taken after a meeting of the
regional executives and some NDC Members of
Parliament on Thursday April 14, Mr Daniel Ade
Coker, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC,
told Citi News, while a statement copied to
Citifmonline.com and signed by Samuel Adu Yeboah,
Regional Chairman, declared the support of the
Central region NDC.

The latest endorsements come on the heels of two
earlier ones, from the Ashanti and Volta regions.
Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, a likely contestant
in the NDC flag bearer slot, announced her
resignation as a Vice Chairman of the NDC to
“put a few things right" in her plan to contest
the NDC flagbearship on Wednesday April 13, 2011.

According to Mr Ade Coker, “we (NDC) have a
winning team and we don’t need to change the
winning team mid stream. We thought that the
Better Ghana Agenda we promised the Ghanaian
populace in the last election must be on course
and the executives and the delegates of the NDC in
the region accordingly came this morning to
declare this intention”.

Mr. Ade Coker, who doubles as the National
Chairman of the Regional Chairmen of the NDC told
Citi News “we feel that without President Mills,
the NDC does not have a winning team and we need
to support the President to complete his four year
mandate and the good people having seen what he
has done, give him another four years to prosecute
the Better Ghana Agenda”.

Parts of the statement from the Central region
read “We the Regional and Constituency
Executives as well as the Regional Women’s Wing
and the Youth Wings of the Party do hereby declare
our unflinching support for His Excellency the
President, Prof. John Evan Atta Mills,
Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces and
Leader of the National Democratic Congress.

“As Parliamentarians, District Chief,
Executives, Party Activists and Executives in the
region we wish all delegates who will be voting at
the congress to vote for continuity which means
voting for the President and his Vice.” The
statement was signed by the regional chairman on
behalf of the Regional Executive Committee

Regional and Constituency executives of the party
in the Ashanti Region declared their support for
President Mills on Tuesday April 12 after an
emergency meeting on Friday April 8 and has the
backing of the Regional Minister, District and
Metropolitan Chief Executives.

The party’s executives in the Volta Region also
declared their support for President Mills’
second term bid on Tuesday April 12, ahead of the
party’s primaries slated for July 8 – 10th to
pick a suitable candidate for the 2012 elections.
Executives in other regions are also gearing up to
declare their support as well, hints picked up by
Citifmonline.com indicate.
