Old man arrested for illegal connection of water Anthony Sapah, 78, was on Wednesday arrested for
allegedly connecting water illegally to his house
at Taviefe-Deme in Ho.
The arrest followed a tip-off received by
officials of the Ghana Water Company Limited
(GWCL).
Sapah admitted the offence but refused to tell the
Police and GWCL authorities who did the
connection, only that he (Sapah) lived in the
house with his daughter, who had gone to the
market.
Mr Theophilus Collins, Volta Regional Customer
Care Manager of the GWCL told the GNA that Sapah
illegally connected water from the Company's main
line, some few metres away from his house.
He said the connection sent water to Sapah's bath
and toilet with no other sign of a running tap in
the house.
Mr Collins said the Company was going to prefer
charges against him.
He said such illegal activities were making cost
of water production very high and causing many
leakages in water pipelines.
Mr Collins commended the public for reporting such
activities to the Company and said his outfit now
has a taskforce that was checking out on illegal
water connections in the region.
