Mr. Kofi Adams

Ohene Ntow is courting Gov’t sympathy for his crimes” – Kofi Adams
Spokesperson for Former President Rawlings, Kofi
Adams, has advised the Former General Secretary of
the opposition New Patriotic Party Nana Ohene
Ntow, to avoid what he calls populist comments
aimed at courting the sympathy of the NDC
government.

Mr. Ohene Ntow on Tuesday April 12 said former
President Rawlings may subvert Ghana’s democracy
if religious, traditional and other political
leaders do not condemn his constant attacks on
President Mills and call him to order.

His comments sought to back the Moderator of the
General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of
Ghana, who has openly urged Mr. Rawlings to
respect President Mills and allow him to steer the
affairs of the country.

Nana Ohene Ntow told Citi News Mr. Rawlings’
conduct was not only a matter for the NDC or
undermining the presidency, but had the potential
to destabilize the country.

But Mr. Rawlings’ Aide and Deputy General
Secretary of the NDC Kofi Adams described Ohene
Ntow’s comments as amateurish saying the latter
is only attempting to seek favours from the
Government.

Mr. Adams however failed to explain precisely what
Mr. Ntow may have done wrong for which reason he
was seeking sympathy.

“If Nana Ohene Ntow thinks that he has committed
acts that he deserves to answer for and so he
thinks he can jump into this kind of opportunistic
and populist politics to be seen to be calling the
leadership good so he will not be taken on, he
should forget it. If Ohene Ntow thinks he is
coming to cover up for his crimes, I am telling
him that the case has been well investigated and
he will answer for his crimes. He shouldn’t
think that coming to dance like this will let the
investigations that are being done about him to be
dropped” he noted.

“Just listen to the childish argument being made
by Nana Ohene Ntow asking what Former President
Rawlings will do to a President of another party.
Didn’t President Rawlings handover to President
Kufuor? Didn’t he indicate that actually NPP
rigged the 2004 elections?

But Nana Ohene Ntow believes Mr. Kofi Adams is not
being honest to himself as far as the happenings
within the NDC are concerned.

The Former General Secretary accused Mr. Kofi
Adams of attacking his person instead of
addressing the issues. He however failed to
explain or react to the latter’s claims.

“I don’t think it is right for Kofi to engage
in personal name callings and all that. I think it
is quite unfortunate and wrong” he noted.
