Kwaku Baako Jnr Baako accuses Rawlings of ignorance and hypocrisy Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Malik
Kweku Baako has shockingly disclosed that he was
instrumental in former President Rawlings turning
out the way he is today and deeply regrets putting
his life on the line for him.
Mr Baako said as an international statesman
assigned to offer solutions to the ongoing crisis
in Somalia, it is ironic that Mr Rawlings seems to
be generating so much heat and tension in his own
country.
“It’s no joke, he was so young when he came on
the scene. We were part of the instruments that
made him what he is today, sometimes I look back
and I regret…that I put my life on the line.
Midnight I’ll go to Burma Camp and put
leaflets…slogans on walls “Free Rawlings”
“Revolution or death”…it worries me, it’s
not fair to Ghanaians, it’s not fair…He’s
talking of injustice? This is the man who has an
indemnity covering him…he is still talking of
injustice…5,000 Ghanaians died during the
Konkomba/Nanumba war, who went to court? Let them
give me an example of one person who was arrested
and prosecuted in the court of law in this great
country. Can’t he relax? Can’t he cool
down?” he asked.
Seething with rage over the numerous forms of
allegations leveled against President Mills by Mr.
Rawlings, the Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading
Guide accused the ex-president of “hypocrisy,
double standards and unfairness” and indicated
that due to the manifestation of such character
traits, it is worrying when he (Rawlings) goes to
town on the Mills’ administration in such
manner.
“Thank God we are alive and that we have lived
in this country for a long time... First of all,
he provides no evidence of his accusations and
charges. He did it to Kufuor, but unfortunately
Professor Mills and Sammy (Okudzeto Ablakwa) were
enjoying it.”
He was particularly critical of Mr. Rawlings’
denigration of President Mills’ style of
governance just three months after he (Mills)
assumed office. To him, it was wrong on the part
of the ex-president who once ruled the country as
a military head of state and later as a democratic
leader to cry foul over “Kufour’s D.C.E.s”
who were still at post.
“My problem with Jerry Rawlings is that he’s
ruled for 19 years; 3months as AFRC Boss,
subsequent to that Military Despot for 11 years, 8
years constitutional Head of State, a combination
of varied experiences. He knows the state craft,
or he must have known it. If he didn’t, then he
is an ignoramus of the highest order. But you
can’t be in politics without learning,” he
said.
He described Mr. Rawlings’ criticisms as
insults.
“To be honest with you, I don’t think
Rawlings’ attacks it’s not criticism…I
don’t see it as constructive criticism. He’s
insulting, he’s attacking, he’s criminalizing.
I don’t think they are sincere…the battle for
control and command…this man, you see he has not
properly re-adjusted…,” he stated.
