Dr Hilla Limann

Gbollu Chief’s reign threatened over recent political comments
The continued reign of the Paramount Chief of the
Gbollu Traditional area, Kuoro Buktia Limann is
being threatened over recent comments which have
been described as political.

District Chief Executive for Sissala West, Robert
Wovie Bakah says the former Council of State
Member should abdicate his skin if he wants to
enter into politics.

At a news conference in Wa, the DCE condemned the
Gbollu Kuoro’s statement made to the President
that he, the DCE, was imposed on the people by the
PNC.

Upper West Regional Correspondent Rafik Salam
reported the DCE was surprised that the Gbollu
Kuoro failed to appreciate the president’s
naming of a senior high school at Gbollu after
late former president Hilla Limann, a brother of
the Gbollu Kuoru.

The chief had, while lauding the recognition of
his brother, said the former president was
unjustifiably maligned by former president
Rawlings who overthrew the Limann government in a
coup, and that the NDC owed the late Limann an
apology for all the allegations which were never
proven.

But the DCE, Mr Bakah, said the comments were
political. He advised the chief to abdicate his
skin if he wanted to engage in partisan politics.

“I will not like him to hide behind chiefdom and
cause me because I cannot talk rudely to him
because he will then turn round to say I’m being
rude to chiefs,” Mr Bakah said.

But the Gbollu Kuoru mounted a strong defence of
his comments, arguing he had every right to defend
his late brother, Limann.

“Who can tell me that I cannot defend my
brother? If you were the one and your brother was
humiliated, defeated unnecessarily by people who
accuse him of all wanton crimes which he didn’t
commit; if you are a man worthy of your...honour,
won’t you defend your brother?” He asked.
