Defeated NDC PC rubishes police claims over false alarm
The defeated National Democratic Congress (NDC)
Parliamentary Candidate for Lower West Akim,
Shirley Naana Ampem, has dismissed claims by the
Asamankese Police that she raised a false alarm
that she was under attack only for the police to
find her doing pedicure.

Asamankese District Police Commander, DSP Anane
Appiah said his outfit received a distress call
from the Parliamentary candidate, following which
he mobilized his men and rushed to the defeated
candidate’s home, but was shocked to find out
that she made a false claim.

“This was the allegation that came to my office,
we swiftly went there and saw that it was not
true. It was just about two or three people who
were passing by the house of the defeated
Parliamentary candidate of the NDC, and some of
the guys in the house wanted to confront them.
They fabricated a story that the NPP people came
and attacked them. That was not true.”

He continued: “It was the PC who while in her
room called me that some people had come to attack
them. So we quickly went there less than five
minutes and we saw that she who called was in her
room making pedicure. Then I said you just rang me
that some people are attacking you and you are in
your room making pedicure. Then she said some of
her boys came and gave her that information.
Meanwhile, there were about six or seven cars
there, so if they really threw stones it would
have hit at the glass or bonnet of one of the cars
but we saw that it was not true.” DSP Anane
Appiah said.

But speaking to Kasapa News, Shirley Naana Ampem
insisted that her residence came under attack by
some NPP youth who were hurling stones at her
house.

“I was in my living room on Sunday and heard
shouts outside as some people hurled stones at my
house. My driver rushed to inform me that some NPP
guys had besieged my area and wanted to enter my
compound so he wanted to drive the car out of the
house. I advised him not to move to avoid any
accident and asked him to close the gates to
prevent them from coming in. But they persisted
and so I wanted the doors opened for them because
we are not enemies. but I realized that as they
were entering they were still throwing stones.

The Police Commander claims I raised a false
alarm, ask him why he came to my residence
wielding an AK 47 riffle in the compnay of the BNI
officer in the District. Ask him why he called the
former DCE, Sintim Aboagye who also came with a
gun, why did he provide me with two police guards
to protect me. It is painful for such things to be
said about me. I have a good relationship with the
Police Commander so I don’t understand why he
should twist facts to disgrace me, I’m saying so
because we’re talking about reputation here. Why
will I call for police protection when I’m not
under attack?
