Electricity Bills Choke Operators of Private Mortuaries in Kumasi Owners of private mortuaries in Kumasi have
revealed that they are being shoved out of
business following high electricity tariffs.
They indicate the skyrocketing electricity bills
are now gradually leading to most of them closing
down their facilities since they are unable to
meet the rising cost of operations.
According to them, the cost of running their cold
facilities is shooting through the roof
threatening their operations despite consistent
complaints to the Electricity Company of Ghana
(ECG).
Their complaints come in the wake of a general
public outcry over the new billing software of the
Electricity Company which has currently been put
on hold.
The high end electricity consuming private
mortuaries are calling for a speedy solution to
the anomalies to save their businesses from
collapse. A pathologist from one of the private
Mortuaries, who spoke on anonymity Ultimate FM’s
Eno Safo appealed to government to speed up
processes in rectifying the anomaly in ECG’s
billing
Meanwhile the electricity company is set to return
before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to give
further clarity on issues of its new billing
software and concerns of overbilling customers.
