I was a music competition judge in jail - Kwaw Kese
Controversial hiplife musician, Kwaw Kese has
revealed for the first time on Starr 103.5FM that
during his incarceration at the Kumasi Central
Prisons, he was the judge for several music
competitions held by the inmates.

Kwaw Kese, who is accredited with several hit
songs said: “You know, in there, they have
games, they have singing and dancing competitions
and I was the judge in the singing
competitions.”

Kwaw Kese, real name Emmanuel Botchwey was
arrested in November last year for publicly
smoking Indian hemp in the Ashanti regional
capital, Kumasi.

He was remanded after his first appearance in
court and failed to secure bail on three different
occasions.

He was finally granted bail and released on health
grounds after he was rushed to the Komfo Anokye
Teaching Hospital with a stomach infection.

The ‘Abodam’ hitmaker in his first interview
since his release said the inmates rejoiced after
the announcement that he was going to join them.

“They were happy...you know it was all over and
they have TVs and radios in there so they knew I
was coming...and they were rejoicing.

“Some of them told me that if not for prison
they would never have met me,” Kwaw Kese told
host of Starr Drive Bola Ray Wednesday.

According to the self-acclaimed ‘king of the
streets’, he wasn’t molested by the inmates
because of his status adding that he had to cool
off in a single room with 74 other inmates
