| | Ghana players have earned US$30,000 each for beating Burkina Faso on
Tuesday to advance to the quarter finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars would have been eliminated from the continental tournament
if they failed to win the game in Luanda.
The government of the West African country decided to reward each player of
the squad the biggest bonus ever paid to a Ghana team for winning a game.
This is the ensure that the players play out of their skins to secure the
win over their northern neighbours.
The Black Stars are normally paid a winning bonus of US$10,000 each for
such important games but the rulers of the country decided to do even
better.
Ghana failed to win their opening match against Ivory Coast which means the
players lost the US$10,000 winning bonus at stake.
But the authorities decided to give the winning bonus for all the three
Group B matches if they beat Burkina to ensure they advance.
With the 1-0 win over Burkina Faso, the Black Stars players are laughing
all the way to the bank.
Ghana finished second in Group B behind Ivory Coast, who have already
qualified, and will play their quarter-final game in Luanda against hosts
Angola on Sunday.
Ghana will stay in Luanda to take on Angola, who topped Group A.
