Rawlings kept over 20 wild dogs at his Ridge Residence alone – Hannah Bissiw
Dr. Hanna Louisa Bissiw has revealed that the late
former President Jerry John Rawlings had over 20
wild dogs at his Ridge Residence alone.

The Cuba-trained Veterinary Surgeon revealed on
Face to Face Africa on Citi TV monitored by
MyNewsGh.com that she was charged with the
responsibility of taking care of the animals.

“As their daughter and a veterinary surgeon
there was no one in a better position to take care
of your parents pets. They had 20 or probably a
little more at Ridge”, she revealed.

According to the National Women’s Organiser of
the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the former
military ruler loved pets which informed his
decision to keep such large numbers.

“You know, daddy loved pets and mummy also does.
Usually, when the dog gave birth and he gives you
a dog, don’t think he would just close his eye,
he will follow up to see if you are treating the
animal well. It was not like they were buying them
but they were reproducing”, she revealed.

She revealed that she was in charge of the over 20
dogs except the medication that was bought.

“Mine was to ensure that they had their
vaccinations”, she revealed.

On claims she was fired because the dogs started
dying under her care, she apportioned the blame on
one Dr. Tetteh at 37 insisting the animals were
hale and hearty under her stewardship.

It was an open secret that Jerry John Rawlings
loved pets especially dogs taking into account
happenings in 2013 where one Mr Kwesi Banahene,
had been accused of murdering a dog owned by
former President.
