Koku Anyidoho, Deputy General Secretary of National Democratic Congress (NDC)

GBA exhibiting double standards - NDC
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has
attacked the statement from the Ghana Bar
Association (GBA) calling on the Attorney
General’s Department to resume the prosecution
of discharged eight members of Delta Force, a
vigilante group affiliated with the New Patriotic
Party (NPP).

“My problem with the Ghana Bar Association is
their double standard and their hypocrisy”, Koku
Anyidoho, Deputy General Secretary of National
Democratic Congress (NDC) said.

According to the outspoken politician, the call to
investigate the decision of the Attorney General
dropping charges against the eight members of
Delta Force said to have aided escape of thirteen
of their members from custody is out of place.

He explains that GBA over the years has not been
fair to issues especially where it bothers on
political lineages like that of the recent attack
on a sitting judge in Kumasi by thw NPP vigilante
group.

According to him, GBA refusal to openly condemn
the operations of Delta Force has contributed to
the latest attack on the judiciary hence, decision
of the Attorney General to drop charges against
them.

The GBA in a statement following the decision of
the Attorney General’s Department to quash the
case for lack of evidence is calling for thorough
investigations by the police.

Members of the bar are calling on Ghana Police
Service to interview the court officials, lawyers
and litigants who were at the court on the day of
the attack to for evidence.

But the Deputy General Secretary has accused them
of being selective in their approach to issues. He
alleged GBA turned a blind eye on assault of a
police officer at Flagstaff House but has chosen
to come out this time because it is obvious

“I believe GBA is now condemning because it is
about the judiciary” he thinks.
