NDC Demand Removal of ‘NPP’ Presiding Officer in Tatale
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the
Tatale- Sanguli constituency in the Northern
region has written a petition to the office of the
Electoral Commission asking it to immediately
remove a deputy presiding officer, one Kuwela
Jacob whom they accused of being a card bearing
member of the New Patriotic Party.

The Party’s constituency secretary Bintim Ahmed
Zuberu in an exclusive interview Kasapa News said
the party believes Mr. Jacob position would
compromise the outcome of the elections following
his relationship with the NPP and therefore should
not preside over elections in any part of the
constituency.

Mr. Jacob is facing numerous allegations including
being an NPP agent during its parliamentary
primaries and subsequently publicly endorsing and
campaigning for the party’s presidential
candidate Nana Akuffo Addo.

The NDC claims it has evidences to support its
accusation and asked the Electoral Commission to
treat the issue with urgency.

“He did the work of a party agent and on another
occasion when the parliamentary candidate was
being ushered into town to commence his campaign
he was also spotted in the convoy that welcomed
him. Our point is that Mr. Jacob should not be
assigned to anywhere in the constituency and must
also stay away from the collation center to
influence any change”.

The District Director of the Electoral Commission
Mr. Francis Asante confirmed receiving the
petition and said the issue would be resolved.

He said the commission was investigating the
allegations but on the grounds of fairness and
integrity of the elections it has succumbed to
some of the demands of the NDC party.

Mr. Jacob would not be allowed access to the
collation center after elections.
