NDC Behind Disruption Of Bawumia’s Volta Region Lecture Tour – Group
A pro-opposition group, OPERATION 40% For NPP In
Volta, has accused the ruling party of
masterminding the disruption of a planned
familiarization tour of the Volta Region by the
Vice Presidential candidate of New Patriotic Party
(NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The group described as BARBARIC, HEARTLESS AND
CRIMINAL, the prevention of Dr Bawumia from
addressing students of the Ho Polytechnic and
Akatsi College of Education by some protestors.

A planned lecture by the 2016 NPP Running mate was
truncated after he was reportedly forced out of
the Volta region by some youth in the area.

The angry youth bared their teeth at him by
preventing him from making any public speeches
during his visit to the two institutions in the
Volta region.

The protestors were seen wielding placards and
chanting angrily on the Akatsico campus where he
was expected to deliver a public lecture. A
similar fate befell the politician when he visited
the Ho polytechnic to deliver a lecture on the
impact of the IMF bailout on the Ghanaian economy
at the school as part of his tour of the Volta
region.

“Residents, mainly young people blocked out his
attempts to speak amidst brassband music, motor
bike displays and jamma chants to prevent Dr.
Bawumia from infecting the public with his
lies,“ witnesses recount.

The NPP stalwart had no choice but to slip out of
the town.

It is unclear whether the protest was retaliation
to a recent incident that occurred in the Ashanti
region where some government appointees including
Hon Okudzeto Ablakwa, Deputy Minister in charge of
Tertiary Education and Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Dep
Minister for Communications were heckled by
teacher trainees in Kumasi.

But the Operation 40% For NPP In Volta group, in a
statement issued hours after the incident,
condemned the act saying it was against Ghana’s
democratic principles which could even result in
raising tribal tension between Voltarians and
Northerners.

The group further accused the ruling National
Democratic Congress (NDC) of being behind the
action by the youth in the area.

“...we are again shocked and sad at what they
tried doing just to tarnish the good image of we,
the Voltarians, through this devilish act against
humanity by making it look as if all VOLTARIANS
were behind it while it wasn't so but some hired
criminals from outside VOLTA REGION by the
NDC....Weren't the NDC aware of some of the
CONSEQUENCES of this evil agenda of theirs against
VOLTARIANS if it had gone through as they
planned?...Does the NDC know the tribal tension
that could have arisen between VOLTARIANS AND
NORTHERNERS, if this evil agenda of theirs had
gone through?...We, as a group therefore see it as
BARBARIC, HEARTLESS AND CRIMINAL just as we
initially framed the whole act at the beginning of
this article,” the group said.

Read the full statement below...

STATEMENT: Voltarians, We’re Sorry...We Had No
Hand In Evil Agenda Against Dr Bawumia
We, Operation 40% For NPP In Volta are a group of
Voltarians in and out of the Volta Region who no
longer want the continuous deceit or use of
Voltarians by the NDC and therefore see the
intentionally planned action by the NDC to maim or
even worse to attack Dr Bawumia as very sad,
Barbaric and unfortunate.

So barbaric, inhuman and heartless that, it can be
equalled to the likes of the xenophobic attacks in
South Africa, the Boko Haram in Nigeria, the
Al-Shabab in Kenya and other inhuman attacks
across the world.

Firstly, we are actually every sad and shocked why
the NDC could organise the worst of thugs,
assassins from across Ghana with just an intention
of attacking and maiming Dr.Bawumia.

What has Dr Bawumia done to deserve this?

Secondly, we are again shocked and sad at what
they tried doing just to tarnish the good image of
we, the Voltarians, through this devilish act
against humanity by making it look as if all
VOLTARIANS were behind it while it wasn't so but
some hired criminals from outside VOLTA REGION by
the NDC.

What has VOLTARIANS done to deserve this?

Weren't the NDC aware of some of the CONSEQUENCES
of this evil agenda of theirs against VOLTARIANS
if it had gone through as they planned?

Just caption this HEADLINE if their plan had gone
through successfully; "VOLTARIANS Attack And Maim
Dr Bawumia, The Pride Of The North"

Does the NDC know the tribal tension that could
have arisen between VOLTARIANS AND NORTHERNERS, if
this evil agenda of theirs had gone through?

We, as a group therefore see it as BARBARIC,
HEARTLESS AND CRIMINAL just as we initially framed
the whole act at the beginning of this article.

Also, from a critical thinker’s analysis of this
issue, we see it as a WOULD HAVE BEEN DENT AND A
DENT on the image of Voltarians and the region in
general.

And so, since it is barbaric and criminal, we say,
it need not only be CONDEMNED but also all
people(the NDC Organisers, the hired thugs)
involved should be arrested and brought to book
for such an evil plan agenda against a noble,
quiet, intelligent, peace-loving, who only thinks
good for the nation proud son of Ghana.

In conclusion, we as a group will first like to
thank GOD for His protection over Dr. Bawumia from
the evil plans of the NDC

Secondly, we will on behalf of all VOLTARIANS like
to say sorry to Dr. Bawumia for this disgraceful
thing that happened and we want to assure him
that, we VOLTARIANS had no hand in it and promise
not to allow such a thing to happen again.

Moreover, we thank him for visiting the region and
educating the whole region on some of the serious
economic issues we needed to know and we hope and
pray he will pushed all that happened behind him
and visit us again sooner than later so that we
can redeem our image as a region that has so much
respect, love for all people of all tribes,
political parties, social status and others.

We will also thank the School’s security and the
Police for doing a good job in controlling,
dispersing and arresting some of the thugs who
were hired for such an evil agenda, we pray they
will go on to arrest more of them especially their
organiser who is a known strong NDC MAN in the
region and push them all for prosecution.

Furthermore, we will like to apologize to the
entire students who came for the program just to
listen to the wisdom of Dr. Bawumia and also catch
a glimpse of this intelligent, peaceful man but
missed the opportunity because of this BARBARIC,
EVIL PLAN by the NDC.

Finally, we would like to plead with the house of
chiefs and opinion leaders in the region to
intervene so as to avoid another incident likely
to tarnish the image of the VOLTA REGION by the
NDC or any other group of people.

Thank you and May GOD be praised always.
