Drama at Nima Police Station over missing 'Kayayo'
Over 100 head-porters, more commonly referred to
as Kayayei, have besieged the Nima Police Station
in Accra over their missing colleague.

The Kayayei are accusing a mentally deranged woman
over the disappearance of the their 28-year-old
colleague.

The suspect Felicia Quarshie is reportedly in
custody at the Nima Police Station to help with
investigations.

Speaking to Starr News’ reporter Wilberforce
Asare, the alleged kidnapper’s sister said
Felicia is not capable of what she is being
accused of.

“I was there when they called to tell me she put
a purse on someone’s face and the person got
missing… and I told them that I even have her
hospital card with me and that she is depressed.

“I took her to the hospital and the doctor said
she was suffering from religious psychosis. I
think today she didn’t take her medicine, she
came out and everyone she meets, she just puts a
veil on your head and puts spectacles on your face
and says 'you are beautiful'.

“All of a sudden, these Kayayeï girls started
shouting that some [of their colleagues] are
missing…”

The head of the Mamprusi community in Accra, Naa
Alhaji Chackson has also called on his people,
most of whom are some of these head porters to
remain calm.

“I am just pleading with them to exercise
restraint and allow the police to go on with the
investigations and come out with the real fact
because there certain cardinal points that have
not been established. They’ve not yet been able
to identify the girl they said is missing, her
name and the village she comes from. You don’t
just take things for hearsay,” he lamented.
