Ghanaians deserve better load hedding ....from ECG - Energy Minister
Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Buah, the Energy Minister has
urged workers of the Electricity Company of Ghana
(ECG) to keep calm as the decision by government
and the ministry to reassign the MD, Rev. Ing
William Hutton-Mensah is nothing personal.

According to him, the reassignment of the ECG boss
is to ensure that there is rapid response to the
needs Of Ghanaians, adding that nobody can
second-guess a decision that has been taken by
President Mahama in this case.

He insisted that the government will not sit idle
for the $500 million investment from the
Millennium Challenge Account into ECG
modernization go down the drain; emphasizing that
government is prepared to bring a real reform to
ECG in order to render the service that Ghanaians
need most.

Speaking in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on
Peace Fm’s Kokrokoo Morning Show, Hon. Kofi Buah
said government is committed to ensuring that ECG
is strengthened in all areas of its service
delivery to satisfy Ghanaians, asking whether
Ghanaians are satisfied with the load shedding and
the customer services being provided by ECG.

He maintained that the removal of the former MD of
ECG from his post has nothing to do with any
person, stating that the interest of government
lies with Ghanaians’; reminding workers to know
that it is a privilege to work in any capacity
they have been assigned to.

“We as a Ministry and government have every
right to take decisions to protect the interest of
Ghanaians and definitely certain decisions will be
made. Nobody can second-guess decision that has
been taken already by the President on ECG. I
think we have to support ECG and make sure that it
gives the service that is needed for the people of
Ghana…..government is on the side of Ghanaians;
people need a very good, efficient and responsive
service from ECG. Can you say you are satisfied
with the load shedding and the customer service of
ECG? If you are satisfied then fine”, he stated.
