NDC HQ cannot cost $20m; We only entered into a lease agreement - Kofi Adams
Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National
democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, has refuted
assertions that the newly constructed national
headquarters of the party was done at a cost $20
million.

Addressing the issue which has become topical in
political circles, Mr. Adams, who is also aspiring
for the position of a National Organizer was
empathic about the fact that the building could
not have cost anywhere close to the said amount.

“..Is it that those throwing that amount around
have such monies to spend anyhow? Do you know what
$20 million could do? It is not so,” he said on
Okay FM's Ade Akye Abia programme.

He also hinted at the fact that the party has
entered into a lease agreement with the owner of
the building though he has no knowledge of the
cost.

This disclosure comes on the heels of an ongoing
debate on the source of funding and the cost of
the construction of the new headquarters of the
ruling party, located in Adakbraka.

Many have gone to the extent of speculating that
leading party members, including the embattled
businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome who was
wrongfully paid a judgment debt to the tune of
about GHC52 million are the financiers of the
ultra modern office complex.

But Kofi Adams’ revelation also comes ahead of
the commissioning of the building where the
General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu
Nketia is expected to unravel all the mystery
surrounding the ownership of the building and its
cost.
