Pension money “intact, safe & secure” – Labour Minister
Employment and Labour Relations Minister Haruna
Iddrisu has assured all public sector workers that
their tier-two pension funds are in good hands and
have not been used for any purpose.

“The money is intact, safe and secure”,
Iddrisu told journalists at a forum Friday.

According to him, “no disbursement has been
made, but people are alleging [it has been used]
in order to scandalise Government”.

He asked journalists to investigate from the Bank
of Ghana to ascertain the reality for themselves.

Twelve labour unions of public sector workers are
currently on an indefinite strike to mount
pressure on the Government to release their
tier-two pension contributions, which they want to
give to a fund manager of their choice to invest
for them.

The more than 800,000 public sector workers say
they will not call off the strike until the
Government accedes to their demand.
