Ayawaso Wuogon MP commends Oko Vanderpuije
Emmanuel Agyarko, New Patriotic Party (NPP)
Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso Wuogon, has
commended Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, Accra
Metropolitan Chief Executive for bringing one of
the Millennium City schools to his constituency.

The project is a three-storey 18-unit classroom
block under the Urban Development Grant Two (UDG
II).

Mr Agyarko who made the commendation at the
sod-cutting ceremony of project at the Maamobi
Prison’s Yard Cluster of schools in Accra said:
“At long last it is our turn to have one of the
Millennium City schools.”

He said the only way the area could move towards
achieving its developmental goals is to forge
ahead in unity with positive thinking, cooperation
and support of the people for the early completion
of the project.

The MP said the primary responsibility of ensuring
quality education is to create a friendly
environment that would encourage the children to
learn.

He promised to monitor the activities of the
contractor to ensure good work. Mr Agyarko
expressed gratitude to the government and the
Accra Metropolitan Assembly for the honour done to
the community, adding: “Now it is a dream come
true to ensure quality education in the area.”

He congratulated the Prisons authority for
releasing the land for the project.

At the Accra New Town Experimental and Kotobaabi
Cluster of Schools Dr Vanderpuije cut the sod for
the commencement of the Millennium schools each in
the communities to guarantee every child quality
education.

He said the Better Ghana Agenda is not slowing
down but reigning very high, saying: “The mark
of excellence and commitment of His Excellency
President John Dramani Mahama is to ensure quality
education to Ghanaian Children.

“If we want our children to be the future
leaders of tomorrow we should also make sure that
we provide them with quality infrastructure and
teachers who are committed to take instruction,”
he said.

Dr Vanderpuije said the AMA would leave no stone
unturned to ensure that all the Millennium Schools
are constructed because that was the reason why
the shift system was abolished.

He advised the teachers to ensure the best
practices in class.

Madam Doris Sika Dzesu, Officer-in-charge of
Ayawaso Central of the Ghana Education Service
appealed for one of the Millennium Schools to be
turned into senior high school in the district.

She said the only second cycle school in the
district is Accra Technical Training Centre.

Madam Dzesu expressed gratitude to the Accra
Metropolitan Chief Executive for providing the
project to the people of Ayawaso Central and
Wuogon.
