Kufuor to meet with Nana Addo, party executives to discuss future of party
Former President John Agyekum Kufuor will meet
with Nana Akufo-Addo and other officials of the
New Patriotic Party (NPP) to discuss the future of
the party after its successful Delegates’
Congress over the weekend.

Discussions will focus on how to unite the party
in order to win power in the Presidential and
Parliamentary elections in 2016.

Spokesperson for Mr Kufuor, Frank Agyekum says the
meeting will take place when the former president
returns from a trip to the United States (US).

He said the former president’s call on the newly
elected flagbearer and executives of the party is
something he does all the time and that this will
not be the first.

“He has already met the top executives and
national executives about twice already, he
continuously meets with party executives every now
and then so meeting all the stakeholders of the
party is nothing new”.

The former president according to Mr Agyekem, will
also take the opportunity to meet with the newly
elected flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo, and the
aspirants who lost.

Mr Kufuor has already congratulated Nana
Akufo-Addo for winning the flabearership race. In
a statement he said “The news of your resounding
and overwhelming victory at the just-ended
flag-bearer elections of our party has just
reached me and I congratulate you immensely”.

He said the peaceful conclusion of the National
Delegates’ Conference was a decisive testament
to the strength of the party’s tradition of
democracy and the people’s power adding “I
assure you of my fullest support in the contest
ahead”.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo polled 117,413
representing 94.35 percent of total votes cast at
the NPP’s Delegates’ Congress Saturday to seal
his third shot at the presidency. It was total
annihilation and an embarrassing defeat for former
Trade Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen who polled a
paltry 5,908 votes representing 4.75% of total
valid votes cast.
