Otabil: Gloating Over Cedi Stability Sign Of “Weak Faith”
Head Pastor of the International Central Gospel
Church, Mensa Otabil says the seeming excitement
of some Ghanaians over the stability of the local
currency-The Cedi- against the major trading
currencies, especially the Dollar is a sign of
weak faith.

According to him, Ghanaians appear concerned about
the performance of the Cedi because their faith is
centered on what they see in the physical as
against what the bible teaches.

“The Cedi value goes high; we are dying, the
Cedi value now improves; hallelujah it’s a
breakthrough; weak faith. Weak faith is faith that
is not built on the word of God but the senses”
the motivational speaker told his congregation on
Sunday September 28.

He added :“Weak faith is controlled by the
senses. You get up in the morning you feel good;
you say this is the day the Lord has made, I
believe I will prosper. You get up in the morning;
you feel bad, you say I bind all the witches in my
family and I cast them out"

The Cedi which saw close to a 40% depreciation
against the dollar over the last few months, has
started appreciating against some of the major
trading currencies, including the dollar.

Checks on inter-bank rates in Accra established
that on the average, one dollar was bought at GH¢
3.1, and sold for GH¢3.45; One pound was bought
at GH¢5.2, and sold for GH¢ 5.6, while an Euro
was also bought at GH¢ 4.1, and sold for
GH¢4.4.

Dr Otabil recently came under avalanche of
criticisms from government communicators for
suggesting that the Cedi may fall as much as
Gh¢10 to a Dollar.

According to him, Christians must learn to make
their life projections in faith instead of things
happening around them.
