Waris excited by homecoming as Ghana readies for Guinea
Ghana continue their Africa Cup of Nations
qualifying bid by making an historic appearance in
Tamale where the game with Guinea will be played
on Wednesday.

The game at the Tamale Stadium will be the first
by the Black Stars in the northern capital.

With five players in the team hailing from the
area, it represents a great moment for them.

Black Stars striker Majeed Waris, an indigene,
wants to savour every moment of the experience and
tells the people to live the moment and recall the
memories in future.

"I felt really great [hearing the news about the
choice of Tamale] because playing a game there is
very important for the Tamale people because it
gives everyone the opportunity to see the stars
there," Waris said.

"There are thousands of young people who are
always dreaming of seeing of them and I think its
a great opportunity for them see them and support
them."

The Black Stars arrived to a great reception on
Monday as thousands gathered and waited patiently
for their flight from Accra to touch down.

Motorbike riders numbering more than 200 led the
convoy with the names of players being chanted by
the fans.

"I think this is a chance for the Tamale people to
come out and support them.

"I would feel really happy playing in my hometown,
where I was born and raised and seeing my own
people supporting me.

"I know the love the people have for the national
team and I know they would turn up to support us,"
the Trabzonspor striker said.

Ghana lead the log in Group E as the campaign
reaches the midway stage with three more games to
go beginning with the game against Guinea at
16:00GMT.
