Baako claims 'ghost' officials of Ministry, FA received World Cup booty
Apart from the Management Committee members of the
GFA who benefited from the Black Stars' World Cup
appearance fees, Kweku Baako Jnr is alleging that
other unnamed individuals from the ministry and
the FA also benefited from the World Cup
booty.Kweku Baako Jnr claims these 'unofficial'
beneficiaries did not sign, as having received the
amount.

Mr Baako made these revelations on Joy FM's
Newsfile programme while discussing the
Presidential Commission of Enquiry on issues
relating to Ghana's participation in the botched
2014 World Cup.

It has emerged at the hearing of the Presidential
Commission that the seven members of the Black
Stars' Management Committee each received $82,500
as appearance fees.

The players of the Black Stars received $100,000
each for qualifying for the World Cup.

While it was public knowledge how much the Black
Stars players received, the amount received by the
Management Committee members was unknown.

The Chief Accountant of the Ministry of Youth and
Sports (MOYS) Prosper Apasu, with some hesitation
on Friday, told the Presidential Commission of
Inquiry each member of the Management Committee of
the Black Stars took an appearance fee of
82,500USD during the World Cup.

The seven-member Management Committee was headed
by Kwasi Nyantakyi- President of the GFA and
chairman of the Committee, with Felix Ansong,
Kwame Ofosu Bamfo, Yaw Boateng Gyan, Moses Armah,
Emmanuel Kyeremeh and Fred Crenstil, as members.

The revelation has sent shock waves among critics
who claimed the amount received by the committee
members was on the high side.

Even more shocking is the revelation by Baako Jnr
that some other members of the FA as well as the
ministry also received a share of the money.

He would not name who were the recipients, nor
would he name the amount received, except to say
that when challenged he would mention the names.

He said contrary to convention, those persons did
not sign for the amount received.
