Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia

We couldn't swallow Bawumia in 2016 – Solomon Nkansah
The National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s
Communications Officer says the past government's
pathetic response to attacks by political
opponents robbed it of victory in the 2016 polls.

Solomon Nkansah said Vice President Dr Mahamudu
Bawumia's reputation as an economist was bolstered
last year because the NDC was not able to raise
someone of his calibre to counter him.

With a degree in Public Relations, he said he
would have counseled the government on the best
way to respond to political opponents had he been
drafted into the party's 2016 campaign team.

"If you are dealing with reputation management,
you need to find a senior economist in our
government to respond to Dr Bawumia in an equal
measure and swallow him ," he told Joy News
Thursday.

Some senior members of the NDC have admitted Dr
Bawumia was their major headache last year because
of his repeated attacks on the past government
over the economy.

Like a surgeon, the then New Patriotic Party (NPP)
Running mate operated on the economy and concluded
it was anchored on a weak foundation.

"If you allow Mahama another four year term, he
will tell you he has laid a foundation for
takeoff. How many foundations are needed for this
building to be built?" he said on September 8,
2016.

his foundation, change now!
But four days later, then President John Mahama
told Ghanaians the country was ready for an
"economic take-off," walking into the den of the
economist.

Mr Nkansah said the past government would have
presented a good communication front had there
been an effective collaboration between the
campaign team and the party's communication team.

"We could have done something better but since we
were having government and party communication it
presented us in chaotic manner," he said.
