The family clad in white at the memorial service of the late Jake Obetsebi Lamptey

NPP holds memorial for late Jake Obetsebi Lamptey
It was a solemn ceremony as the family all clad in
white honored their departed husband, father, and
sibling Jake Otanka Obetsebi Lamptey at a memorial
service at the Ridge Church in Accra.

The once vibrant and active National Chairman for
the NPP passed away on March 20 2016 in London
after battling an ailment. For his contributions
which still are esteemed by party members, the
party held a memorial service to mark his one year
anniversary, a year after his demise.

Ghana’s Second Gentleman, Hon. Mahamudu Bawumia,
the first Lady, Theresa Akufo-Addo and other party
stalwarts were present at the event to celebrate
the life of the fallen hero and to commiserate
with the family.

President Akufo-Addo who is currently out of the
country for some presidential duties, in a
recorded speech played at the ceremony
re-emphasized the great role Jake played in the
party, adding that his demise was “the biggest
gap in the party’s victory in the December
elections”. According to him, though deceased,
Jake will forever be missed.

Jake Otanka Obetsebi Lamptey till his demise was
the National Campaign Manager of the ruling
National Patriotic party during the 2000
Presidential elections and he played a huge role
in securing the party’s victory in the elections
at the time. His wish according to his family is
that he lived to witness a second victory by the
NPP in the December 2016 elections.

A get-together ceremony is being held at the
party’s National Headquarters following the
memorial service held this morning.
