Korle Bu Hospital blows GHS65,000 on food items
The management of the nation’s premier hospital,
Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) is in the news
for blowing a whopping Sixty-Five Thousand, Four
Hundred and Thirty cedis (GHC 65, 430.00) on food
items.

The amount is the total amount the management of
the company awarded to a company, L.B Food Supply
for the supply of foodstuff for a period of five
months (June 2016 to November 2016).

“This is to notify you that your Tender dated
17th May 2016 for the execution of contract for
LOT11 – Supply of fresh Beetroot and others
listed in the table below in a framework agreement
in the amount of Sixty-Five Thousand, Four Hundred
and Thirty Cedis (GHC 65, 430.00), is hereby
accepted, and it shall be executed from June, 2016
to November, 2016,” the document read.

Of the amount, GHC 4,000, GHC 4,500, 6,000 and
6,000 was spent on the purchase of fresh
pineapple, cucumber, cabbage, and mango.


These and other 14 foot items including fresh
beetroot, fresh cassava, white cassava dough,
green pepper, okro, Kwehu Susa and others were per
the terms of the contract to be delivered ‘on
monthly call off or any other period as may be
agreed upon on any working day from Monday to
Friday between 8:30am – 3pm.’

“If delivery is not made within the said period,
the contract may be deemed to have been cancelled
and the order shall be re-awarded to the next best
evaluated responsive Tenderer,” the document
spelt out.

“Payment for the delivery shall be made within
60 days after delivery to the satisfaction of the
purchaser…,” the document also read.


The revelations made on Fabewoso segment of Adom
FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Monday by
host, Captain Smart, shocked many listeners and
social commentators including NPP’s Brong Ahafo
Regional Youth Organiser, Kwame Baffoe, a.k.a
Abronye DC.

Abronye, NDC’s Kwaku Boahen and PPP’s Charles
Owusu expressed shocked at the expenditure at the
facility and called for a probe.
