Obiri Boahen hungry for appointment - Anita De Sosoo
First Vice Chairperson of the opposition National
Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita De Sosoo has
expressed her utmost dissatisfaction about threats
of reprisal attacks by the New Patriotic Party’s
(NPP), Deputy General Secretary, Nana Obiri
Boahen.

According to her, she least expected a lawyer like
Nana Obiri Boahen to make such comments which she
believes will only make the party unpopular.

She indicated that, Nana Obiri Boahen made those
remarks because he is eager and ‘hungry’ for
appointment in the NPP government.

“So the NPP do not have better people to address
the press than allow Nana Obiri Boahen to organize
press conference and threaten us. I think he is
just doing that for Nana Addo to notice him and
give him appointment in his government.

“Even with that he will still not get any
position and so if he still needs an appointment,
he should come and see me, I can lobby for him to
get it but using this means is just useless” she
said on an Accra based Okay fm.

Lawyer Obiri Boahen addressing the press at the
party’s headquarters in Accra, said, they are
tired of the allegations of attacks from the NDC
and threats of reprisal attacks.

He slammed the police administration over what he
termed unprofessional conduct and the way and
manner they have dealt with issues of attacks in
the country.

The party has not endorsed or ordered any party
member to seize state property or attack NDC
supporters and so we are urging the police to be
up and doing” he said.

He said, the police only take action against known
NPP members when such issues come up but treats
the NDC with kid gloves, on same issues.

‘’The leadership of the NPP has not ordered
any member to attack people or seize property. We
will not do that nor stand behind anyone who
attacks people. The law is the law and must be
applied in a affair and balanced manner,’’ he
said.’

He lambasted Mr. Kofi Porturphy, Chairman of the
NDC following a press conference he addressed last
week; slamming President Nana Akufo –Addo over
the attacks and calling on him to call the members
to order.

Lawyer Obiri Boahen said, they are fed up with the
allegation and threats from the NDC hence the NPP
is ready to match them boot for boot.

But Madam Anita De Sosoo urged the leadership of
the party to rather channel their grievances to
the rightful authorities and not allow lawyer
Obiri Boahen to incite members of the NPP to cause
mayhem in the country.

“If you are in trouble, you contact the security
or the authorities in charge. If the NPP goes on
like this, trust me, it won’t end in a good
taste” he noted.

She noted that they will continue criticizing the
Nana Addo government whiles in opposition till the
right thing is done.
