Some People Wish Me Dead – Musician O.J Blaq
The rate at which celebrities in our entertainment
fraternity are dying this year comes as a shock to
industry players as we record death almost every
two weeks for the past five months.


On Accra 100.5 FM’s entertainment show
Entertainment Capital hosted by DJ Premier last
week, he interviewed hip life artiste O.J Blaq
after recovering from his kidney problem weeks
ago.


During the interview he said: “some sicknesses
are not physical as people think because there are
so many haters in the job that we do as
entertainers. Sometimes not all are spiritual;
some are the food we eat. We are like any other
human being so when anything happens people should
take their time. There is a spiritual backing in
everything including music and I hear a lot of
them. I believe in God so I don’t deal in those
things. There are some people who don’t have
good intention for others progress in life and the
devil also uses what we fall short against us.”


Speaking on his illness, he said: ”It was a
kidney problem but the media exaggerated my
sickness and funny enough none of those who spoke
about me on radio and other platforms knew the
hospital that I was admitted. They didn’t even
come there to visit to know what was really wrong
with me however they talked about what caused my
sickness. My family wanted me to take some people
to court but I just leave them to God. I know some
people were happy I was sick and others wish I was
dead. The sickness has taught me a lot of
things.”

“According to the doctors, I was supposed to be
there for two months but I spent only two weeks
but I still go for treatment to be fully fit,”
he added.

“I realized I was weak and wanted to treat
myself to be able to be at my grandmother’s
funeral since she took care of me from childhood.
So when I went to the clinic, they realized my
temperature was high so they admitted me and for
three days I couldn’t do anything but I woke up
to see myself at Korle-Bu,” O.J further noted.


He added that he didn’t know the actual thing
going on but it was later that he got to know what
was wrong with him. There wasn’t anything like
kidney transplant so he doesn’t know where they
had that information.


“I treat myself twice a week and it cost
600cedis a week,” O.J Blaq told the host. When
asked if leaving Lynx entertainment has affected
his brand as a musician and how popular he was
working with the team, he said before he got to
Lynx entertainment he was already on Television
doing Sunset City. His popularity has been there
from Achimota Primary school till now and not
because he went to Lynx Entertainment.


“In the acting field, people sabotage when you
speak the truth. I am the type that follows
agreement and when you make a mistake I will tell
you and that is the problem I face on the set I
go,” he disclosed.
