Taxi Driver Killed by Assailants in E/R
A taxi driver at Akyem Oda Quarters popularly
known as Abontia,28, has been murdered by
assailants in his house in the Eastern region.

Angry youth spontaneously stormed the crime scene
and set ablaze the house of the deceased driver
ostensibly to revenge the assailants.

The three assailants are suspected to be led by
brother of the deceased, Emmanuel Agyei, all at
large.

Speaking to Ultimate News’ Kojo Ansah, the Oda
District Police Commander DSP Samuel Ntoso,
explained that he led a team of officers to the
scene when they received distress calls at about
8:pm on Wednesday from the area.

According to him, the taxi driver was found dead
with bruises and blood outside the house.

‘Behind the body was a sack which contained a
locally manufactured single barrel gun and a stick
whiles the KIA Picanto taxi cab of the deceased
with registration number GW9380-16 was packed in
the walled house,’ he explained.

He said, police moved into the house in attempt to
search and arrest the assailants but absconded
before the police arrived.

He explained that informants told police the
brother of the deceased brought two strange men to
stay in the house three days ago but escaped after
the incident.

He added that the informants told police they
heard the deceased shouting “they are killing
me”.

He said the angry youth in the area stormed the
scene around 1:am to set ablaze the house.

DSP Ntoso mentioned that, joint re-enforcement
team of Police and Military from Achiase Jungle
warfare came to the scene to prevent the rampaging
youth from further damages.

Later, fire fighters reported at the scene to
douse the fire.

He said the police are on a manhunt for the
suspected assailants.
