MP to Sue Legal Council, Ghana Law School Over Law Certificate
Member of Parliament (MP) for the Yunyoo
constituency in the Northern Region Hon. Joseph
Bipoba Naabu has threatened to sue Ghana School of
Law and the Legal Council for refusing to release
his certificate four years after he has had his
law education.

The School withheld his certificate and has since
refused to qualify him for graduation four years
after completion accusing him of examination
malpractices.

According to the school, the MP cheated in an
examination by swapping an answer booklet with an
invigilator.

The MP, however, said he was forced to take the
legal action against the school to release his
certificate after it failed severally to find him
culpable of the crime.

According to him, he is heading to court to ensure
compliance with findings by police investigation
of the matter which was initiated by the legal
council.

Speaking to Ultimate News’ Eliasu Tanko, the
legislator described the school as “political
institution” which only harass members of the
ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) party
who find themselves in the institution to pursue a
legal profession.

“Ghana School of Law has become a political
institution. I finished Ghana school of law, my
results has been withheld up to date. It is not
only me; Alhaji Hudu Yahya stayed in Ghana school
of law for 7years, Baba Jamal has being on the
school for fifteen (15) good years, Dr. Tony Aidoo
applied to go to the law school, he wrote the exam
and they failed him and Samuel Okuzdeto Ablakwa

So when I wrote my first part one exam, I failed
four (4) papers then I tried for remark, they
didn’t agree so I repeated and wrote again and
they failed me three papers, so I applied for
remark and passed. A month later a letter was
written that I was involved in an examination
malpractices by swapping an answer booklet with an
invigilator,’ he fumed.

According to Hon. Bipoba actions of the law school
became more suspicious when the said invigilator
they accused wrote to the school and cleared that
he did not invigilate the said paper they claimed
he abetted.

He said he was seeking redress in the court
because he believes the decision by the school to
withhold his certificate has political
undertones.
