British Murder Suspect To Be Voluntarily Extradited The British man arrested in Ghana for allegedly
killing his girlfriend, an ex-soap opera star and
her two children, Simpson Arthur Kent has
submitted himself voluntarily to be sent to the
United Kingdom for trial to begin against him.
This means there would be no need for the court to
continue with the processes that would have
ordered him to be sent to the UK.
His lawyer, Justice Sai, after a thirty minutes
break to consult with Simpson Kent, court during
hearing on Tuesday, told the court his client
wanted the court to waive the extradition
processes so he can return to the UK voluntarily.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Merley Wood who
seemed surprised with the turn of events, asked
Mr. Kent whether indeed that was his request. He
responded “Yes my Lord that is correct.
The Judge further asked, “You were not
coerced?” He replied, “No”. The Judge for
the purposes of emphasis said “so I take it that
this decision was voluntarily taken? Arthur Kent
answered “Yes my Lord.”
The Judge thus ruled asking the Attorney-General
to expedite the process of deportation while he is
kept in BNI custody.
Mr. Simspon Kent, who has been charged with
murder, was brought before a Magistrate Court a
fortnight ago for extradition processes begin, but
the case was transferred to High Court on the
second hearing of the case where these revelations
were made Source - Daily Guide
