Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

Save Ghana from 'disastrous Mahama administration' - Akufo-Addo
The leader of the opposition New Patriotic Party,
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said that the
party has to win the 2016 for the good people of
Ghana.

He said there is no question about that and it is
“neither for ourselves” nor the party
but to help save the nation from what he described
as “the disastrous Mahama NDC
administration”

Nana Addo was addressing a large crowd of party
supporters and sympathisers as a fund raising
dinner dance held in his honour in London over the
weekend.
Members and sympathisers of the party trooped in
from around the United Kingdom (UK) with
delegations from some of the European countries
such as Germany, The Netherlands and Spain. There
were also some Ghanaian associations in the UK who
were represented.

Nana Addo noted that the party’s opponent
in the forthcoming elections is the National
Democratic Congress (NDC) and urged members to
unite even more than ever as the task would be
easier if they were together.

The NPP leader expressed the view that the NPP
tradition has emerged as the most formidable
political party in Ghana and this is evident by
the eight years of Agyekum Kufuor’s
administration which gave the country the best
form of government of the forth republic if not
the entire history of Ghana and adding that the
party was not about to throw away this proud
heritage.

“We shall not forget one thing. We are the
heir of the noblest tradition in Ghanaian politics
and the most durable. Our tradition has survived
deaths, detentions and exiles during the first
republic. It has survived military takeovers of
the country’s history and out of it all it
has emerged as the most formidable political party
in Ghana with the clearest message of freedom,
progress and prosperity,” he observed

He said the 2016 general elections are there for
the party to win indicating that the NDC
government has nothing to campaign on and urged
members to take the party’s message to
every village, every town and to all supporters as
well as to those who are indifferent and even to
those who do not support the party.

Nana Addo noted that the NPP was ready to win the
elections to form a very transparent and honest
government promising that he will not let them
down.
He congratulated all members of the party around
the globe for their hard work. “I know that
often it is the unsung, unmentioned, unrecognised
people who do the real job.”

He expressed his eagerness to earnestly start the
campaign to win the elections. “I have never
been afraid of hard work and I am itching to go
all out. We will contest in every corner of the
country and will win,” he stressed. He
re-iterated that he will announce his campaign
team at the 2015 national delegates’
conference in Sunyani on the 19th of December this
year.

He observed that in Ghana, political parties would
have to worry about things that would not be
normally considered as part of campaign
expenditure such as protecting ballot, making sure
those who want to vote for the party are able to
vote, making sure the counting is real and the
documentation reflects what is in the ballot box.
“We have to make sure there are no
‘twenty seven zeroes’ again on any
pink sheet,” adding that such make elections
in this part of the world very expensive and
commended the UK branch of the party for the
initiative.

The NPP leader urged members not to be dispirited
about what they hear about the internal wrangling,
as much of them are exaggerated “and we now
have good reason to believe that some of these are
instigated from outside the party.” He said
efforts were being made to bring sanity into the
party.

In attendance were the wife of the Flag bearer,
Mrs Rebecca Akufo Addo, former Finance and
Educational Mister Mr. Yaw Safo Marfo the Member
of Parliament for Dome – Kwabenya Miss
Adwoa Safo.
