MPs Summon Minister Over Dumsor
Parliament has summoned the Minister for Power, Dr
Kwabena Donkor, to appear before the House on
Thursday and respond to an urgent question on the
on-going power crisis (aka dumsor) which has
virtually crippled every aspect of the economy.

The question stands in the name of the New
Patriotic Party (NPP) Member for Nsawam/Adoagyiri,
Frank Annoh-Dompreh. He wants to know from the
minister the concrete steps the Ministry of Power
has taken to end the crisis and also for the
ministry to provide definite timelines for a
complete end to the dumsor.

The MP told DAILY GUIDE that despite all the
pressures from civil society groups – since the
crisis started in 2012 – for the government to
pay an urgent attention to the crisis, the problem
has still persisted, resulting in untold
destruction to businesses and for that matter,
retarding the socio-economic development of the
nation.

Also to appear before parliament this week is the
Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing,
who is expected to answer various questions to be
posed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
Member for Keta, Richard Quashigah; NPP MP for
Kwabre East, Kofi Frimpong; NPP MP for
Bosome-Freho, Kwadwo Kyei-Frimpong, NDC MP for
Bortianor-Ngleshie, Bright Demordzi and NDC MP for
Wa West, Joseph Yieleh Chireh.

The aforementioned MPs want to find out from the
minister what the ministry is doing to provide
potable water to the people of Anyako, Konu and
Seva in the Keta constituency of the Volta region;
provide small town water system to the people of
Ntonso in the Kwabre East constituency of the
Ashanti Region; small town water system to Asiwa
in the Bosome-Freho constituency of the Ashanti
Region; help end the perennial flooding of
Kokrobite and Sapeiman in the Ngleshie-Amanfrom
constituency of the Greater Accra Region and also
small town water system for Lassia-Tuolu, Nyoli
and Vieri – all in the Wa West constituency of
the Upper West Region respectively.

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Inusah
Fuseini, will also be in the House to answer
specific questions bordering on roads in some
constituencies.
