Hearts Thrash Utrecht 3-0 To Seal A Semi Final
Hearts of Oak have booked their place in the semi
final stage of the MTN FA Cup competition after
thrashing second –tier side Tamale Utrecht 3-0
at the Tema sports stadium on Sunday.

The Phobians chasing a title they last won 15
years ago were ruthless on the day having no mercy
on the inexperienced Tamale Utrecht side who were
much determined to beat the Phobians but they shot
themselves in the foot due to the aggressive play
of the Accra based club.

Emmanuel Hayford opened the scoring in the 12th
minute mark of the game after he was played
through on goal by Isaac Mensah, the total
dominance of the Phobians showed their intentions
as Eric Kumi doubled Hearts of Oak lead in the
39th minute before Gerald Odupong Wellington
capped a fantastic first half display with a
diving header in the 44th minute.

From recess, Tamale Utrecht came in strongly
searching for goal to reduce the deficit but the
calmness of Hearts of Oak’s back four prevented
the second-tier side to get through. Tetteh Lugard
in post for the Phobians was virtually on holiday
as the game ended 3-0 advantage the home side.
