NDC will gladly accept Paul Afoko, Kwabena Agyepong – MP
Member of Parliament for Afram Plains North,
Emmanuel Aboagye Didieye says the governing
National Democratic Congress (NDC) is ready to
accept Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong if the New
Patriotic Party rejects them.

According to him, the NDC is willing to make use
of the expertise of both NPP executives if the
party no longer has use for them.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, ‘Dwaso
Nsem’, the MP said it was unfair for the NPP to
blame both executives for the party’s woes and
demand their resignation from a position they were
voted for.

“If the NPP is sacking them or forcing them to
resign they should join the NDC. They have an
option, if the NPP is not treating them as they
deserve the NDC is always ready to welcome
them”, he said.

Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong have come under
intense pressure to resign from their posts
following an acid attack on the Upper East
Regional Chairman of the NPP that led to his
untimely death.

Members of the party are demanding the resignation
of the executives, insisting the party has not
known peace since the two were elected in 2014 as
Chairman and General Secretary respectively.

Kwabena Agyepong earlier this week publicly denied
a resignation letter purportedly written by him
saying "I have not resigned and I am just totally
baffled with this kind of attitude."

He added that those asking for his resignation are
perpetrating an “illegality” and that “it is
shameful"." It should never have happened because
that is not what our constitution prescribes us to
do", Kwabena Agyepong has said.

"Clearly these are unseen hands; people who want
to destroy our party; bring the name of our party
into disrepute. All that they have tried to do
this past two weeks; even to try and hang murder
around my neck," he continued.

Paul Afoko on the other hand, is yet to comment on
the issue.

Emmanuel Aboagye Didieye says rather than
crucifying the Chairman and General Secretary, the
NPP should give both executives room to operate
until investigations prove them as being
responsible for the murder of the late regional
chairman.

He said he doubts if both executives will in any
way obstruct investigations being conducted by the
police because Adams Mahama’s murder is a
criminal case and there is no way neither of them
can influence any process concerning the probe.

In his view, both Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong
have a wealth of experience and expertise that
will work to the NDC’s advantage if the NPP has
no use for them.
