Yes!...I've Relatives In Cote D'Ivoire; A Mayor and A King - Gen Mosquito General Secretary of the ruling National
Democratic Congress (NDC) has for the first time
given Ghanaians a run down into his family
background.
Speaking in an interview on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo",
Johnson Asiedu Nketia, popularly called General
Mosquito disclosed that some of his relatives
trace their roots from neighbouring Cote
d’Ivoire.
According to him, he has relatives in Cote
d’Ivoire who have occupied influential positions
in the country.
He indicated some of his relatives (cousins) have
been elected as Mayors and another one happens to
be a King in one of the provinces in the Ivorian
nation.
“Yes, i've relatives there...Some of my distant
cousins are Mayors there. I mean they hold other
positions, even in the politics of Cote
d’Ivoire…It’s the same family with a border
separating us. My mother is from Ghana and my
father is also from Ghana. It’s rather my
grandparents who have dual nationality…To be
honest with you, I become worried when something
happens in Cote d’Ivoire because in a sense, I
have relatives in their three major parties,” he
told the host Kwami Sefa Kayi.
General Mosquito disclosed this tpo buttress the
point that Ghanaians and Ivoirians are "one
people" and must co-exist in peace and harmony.
To him, there should not be any bad blood between
the two countries just because of a dispute over
maritime boundary and exploration and exploitation
of oil in commercial quantities. Source - Peacefmonline
