Sherifa Gunu vows to overthrow Stonebwoy in 2016
The most potent female traditional artiste of our
time, Sherifa Gunu, who hails from the Northern
part of Ghana, specifically ‘Savelugu’, noted
for song like ‘Yumyntaaba’ and a multiple
award winner, has dared to rule the Ghana music
industry as she gears up to overthrow Stonebwoy
who won the coveted artiste of the year award at
the 2015 VGMA.

To most artistes in Ghana, winning the coveted
overall top award is a dream they dutifully aspire
for. Artistes like Lord Kenya, Kontihene, King
Ayisoba, Shatta Wale and Sarkodie are just to
mention a few artistes who have in the past won
the top prize.

Speaking to Dj Murphy Lee on Storm 101.9
Entertainment Extra, Sherifa firstly thanked
Wanluv Kuborlor for including her among various
artistes who featured on UNICEF’s ambassadorial
project.

She further emphasised that she doesn’t think
she is still a GLO ambassador though she hasn’t
written any letter concerning her resignation and
also revealed come 18th April 2015, a company from
UK will unveil her as their ambassador at the
National Theatre.

The most thrilling part of the interview was when
she boldly revealed her ambition of becoming the
next Artiste of the Year.

‘My next album is coming out in two weeks time
with ‘Krakete Soya’ as the title. Next year
I’ll win the artiste of the year whether rain or
shine. Oh! Seriously, am going to win…believe
me…am not joking. I have already prayed for
it,’ Sherifa courageously noted.

When that happens, she will set two records; the
first female artiste/first traditional female
artist to win the overall top award in Ghana.
