Surprise wins for second tier sides in Elite Cup first leg results
The first leg matches for the Elite Clubs Cup
Competition saw surprise victories for some second
tier clubs in their games against Premier League
opponents.

The biggest shock of the first leg results saw
Premier League leaders AshGold suffer a 1-0 defeat
away to Berlin FC whiles second placed Aduana also
lost 1-0 to Utrecht at the Tamale Academy field.

Second tier side Elimina Sharks held Sekondi
Hasaacas to a 2-2 draw at the Essipong with the
game between Heart of Lions and WAFA ending
goalless.

King Faisal, who were in the Premier League last
season, were also beaten 2-0 at the Baba Yara by
Dunkwa United.

Liberty Professionals handed lower tier side
D’Internationals an 8-2 defeat in the biggest
scoreline of the first leg round of matches.

Hearts of Oak also defeated second tier side
Istanbul SC 3-0 in their first leg match played at
the Accra Stadium.

The match between Berekum Chelsea and Guan United
was called off after the away side failed to
appear for the match.

As a result of an accident involving New Edubiase
United’s team bus, their first leg match against
Asokwa Deportivo was also rescheduled to enable
the players and technical team to recover.

The match between Wassaman and Asante Kotoko was
also rescheduled.

played on Wednesday and Thursday:
