Public servants vying for political party positions must first resign!!! - Pratt Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi
Pratt Jnr., has insisted that civil and public
servants contesting for executive positions within
political parties must first resign from the
post.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Kwesi Pratt
bemoaned the culture and attitude of public
servants who still hold onto their positions in
office whiles vying for political positions in
their various parties.
According to him, such practice may lead to
misappropriation of State resources and abuse of
power.
He therefore urged ambitious political figures to,
as a matter of principle, put down their working
tools and tender in their resignation letters.
"It shocks me and surprises me; and this is a
matter of principle. It has nothing to do with any
individual. That certain people have contested
party position and they’re still in office. One
of the reasons why it’s crucial for them to
resign is because there’s a possibility of the
abuse of State power and State resources for
political party purposes.
“If you want to contest party position, you
should resign first. It doesn’t matter whether
NPP Congress or NDC Congress or CPP Congress. The
reason is that in principle, our public and civil
service is supposed to remain neutral…"
He further expressed sheer sadness that the nation
has "reached a stage where we don’t uphold these
basic principles.” Source - Peacefmonline
